New Mexico's first winter backcountry yurt. A beautifully
hand-crafted 24' yurt for overnight lodging in the mountains. This roomy
yurt is luxurious for for a group of four and capable of handling groups
of 10. It is fully insulated and comes equipped with a large wood stove
that will burn through the night. Bull

Trailhead: The trailhead for this yurt lies at the
top end of the parking for Taos Ski Valley. There is a forest service sign
indicating the start of the trail, #90.
Parking: Parking is at the top of the Taos Ski
Valley parking lot. Do not park where the signs say no overnight parking.
Anywhere else is okay.

Maps: The trail to and from the yurt are on the
Wheeler Peak, NM 7.5 min. USGS topo map. For those of you wishing to ski
out towards Gold Hill we recommend the Red River, NM 7.5 min. topo map. We
also suggest you obtain the Carson National Forest map. All of these maps
are provided for your use at the yurts.
General Description: The two miles to the yurt are
steep gaining 1500'. Snowshoes or climbing skins are recommended for this
tour. This yurt is in close proximity to extensive telemarking terrain. In
addition, one can ski or snowshoe tour into high alpine terrain. The
breathtaking views from the above tree-line ridge will make you surprised
that you are in New Mexico.
