| Included on this page are the
directions between the yurts. You will need to use these in conjunction
with the individual yurt directions to follow atrailhead to trailhead
tour.
Directions from Flat Mountain Yurt to Trujillo Meadows Yurt-
This yurt to yurt trail is four miles. It is marked with yellow markers.
From Flat Mtn. Yurt ski to the top of the open meadow in front of the
yurt heading north . There you will catch a forest road leading into the
woods to the north. After 2.3 miles you will come out to the Spruce Park
area. Go around the large open meadow to the north side continuing along
the forest road heading southeast away from the meadow looking out for
the yellow markers. About a mile further there will be a left turn with
blue markers leading the last quarter mile to the Trujillo Meadows Yurt.
Follow the blue markers for about .2 miles where the trail bends to
the left, then look for a turn down and to the right which drops to the
yurt just below.
Directions from Trujillo Meadows Yurt to Flat Mountain Yurt-This
yurt to yurt tour is four miles. Ski
up to FR 118C and turn right following the yellow blazes. About 1 mile
up this route you will come to Spruce Park where the trail turns 90 to
the left for .2 miles then up to the right past a gate(if it's not
buried). Follow this road for two miles to an open meadow. The yurt is
at the top right of this meadow tucked into the trees.
Directions from Neff Mountain Yurt to Trujillo Meadows Yurt-
This yurt to yurt tour is 5.5 miles. Ski from Neff Mtn.Yurt back to FR 116 and turn left following the
yellow markers to FR 118. Turn right onto FR 118 and for .2 miles you
will see both blue and yellow markers. The yellow markers will turn left
leading towards the Flat Mtn. Yurt trail. About .1 miles after that
turnoff you will turn left, onto FR 118C. Take great care to look for
this turn and follow the blue markers as they leave FR 118. Follow FR
118C for 1.9 miles. At this point the blue markers will turn to the
right onto the road to the Upper Los Pinos, while yellow markers will
begin straight ahead indicating the route from Trujillo Meadows Yurt to
Flat Mtn. Yurt. Follow the blue markers for about .2 miles where the
trail bends to the left, then look for a turn down and to the right
which drops to the yurt just below.
Directions from Flat Mountain Yurt to Neff Mountain Yurt-This
yurt to yurt tour is 7 miles. Ski east and down across the open meadow
in front of the yurt following the orange markers. You will follow a
forest road about one mile then look for the markers to turn left into a
long meadow. You will ski below a cabin then veer right through some
trees into another open meadow which has a fence and then the "dead
car". Continue pass the "dead car" and look for the
markers to enter the trees on your right. Here you will join a forest
road which leads into another open meadow. Ski east across this meadow
looking for the orange markers on the trees. This will lead you into
another open meadow which you ski across and follow the trail as it
descends to the intersection with the yurt to yurt trail to Neff
Mountain Yurt, which will be marked with yellow markers. This trail
takes off to the left with a slight uphill along a forest service road.
Follow this road approximately ¾ of a mile to the intersection with FR
118, Trujillo Meadows Reservoir Road. At this intersection you will turn
right towards the highway. After just .2 miles you will turn left onto
FR 116, the Neff Mountain Road. This route will be marked with yellow
markers. Follow FR 116 for 2.3 miles until it intersects the trail for
the Neff Mountain Yurt. This trail is marked with blue markers. From
this intersection the Neff Mtn. Yurt trail goes uphill to your right on
a new road for about a mile where it comes out of the woods into a more
open rolling meadow area. The yurt lies about 250 yards directly in
front of you at this point(south) but remains out of sight. Continue
along the road to the left of the clump of trees in front of you then
leave the road to head south following the blazes to the yurt.
Directions from Neff Mountain Yurt to Flat Mountain Yurt- This
yurt to yurt tour is 7 miles. Ski north from the yurt following the blue
blazes until you locate the forest road that leaves the open meadow area
and heads back below the Neff Mountain Bowl. Follow this well marked
route back to FR 116, then turn left and follow FR116 away from the Neff
Mountain trailhead. You will now be following yellow blazes. Stay on FR
116 for 2.3 miles to the intersection with FR 118, Trujillo Meadows
Reservoir Road. Turn right onto this road for .2 miles then turn left
onto another forest road, looking for the yellow blazes. Follow this
road for 3/4 miles until you intersect with the Flat Mountain Yurt Trail
which is marked with orange markers. Turn right heading uphill keeping
an eye out for the markers at the top of the hill as you ski into a
series of open meadows. After 3/4 miles you will come to a large open
meadow area. You will want to pay particular attention here as there is
little to place markers on. You ski WNW across the meadow passing an old
abandoned car(if it's not buried) and going past the private land fence.
Look for orange markers hanging on the trees to lead you into more open
meadow. You will ski below a cabin staying to the left following the
orange markers which will now lead you to the SSW. The trail will
reenter the woods and continue in a WNW direction to the yurt. The rest
of the route should be easy to follow if you keep an eye out for the
orange trail markers. Just before the yurt you will ski up into an open
meadow. The yurt is at the far end of the meadow tucked into the trees.
Directions from Trujillo Meadows Yurt to Neff Mountain Yurt-This
yurt to yurt tour is 5.5 miles long. From the yurt ski back up the hill
to the junction with the FR118C. Turn left back towards the trailhead
and follow the blue markers. You will go 2.1 miles along this road to a
tee. Turn right at the tee onto the major forest road, FR 118. Follow
this road for .3 miles looking for FR 116, the Neff Mountain Road on
your left. This road is marked with yellow markers. Follow FR 116 for
2.3 miles until it intersects the trail for the Neff Mountain Yurt. This
trail is marked with blue markers. From this intersection the Neff
Mtn.Yurt trail goes uphill to your right on a new road for about a mile
where it comes out of the woods into a more open rolling meadow area.
The yurt lies about 250 yards directly in front of you at this
point(south) but remains out of sight. Continue along the road to the
left of the clump of trees in front of you then leave the road to head
south following the blazes to the yurt.
